During the PfR Ethiopia inception period, the severe and prolongued drought disaster that affected the horn of Africa in 2010/11 had a considerable impact on most of the southern and south eastern lowlands of Ethiopia.
Despite of the delays produced by this disaster, this document presents a summary of the initiatives made by PfR Ethiopia in regards to the response to the drought emergency, as well as staff training, experience sharing and learning, community awareness raising, CMDRR committee organizing and other activities.
Some of the most relevant activities carried out in this period are.

- Community managed Disaster Risk Reduction activities
