Five Netherlands-based humanitarian, development and environmental organisations (CARE Nederland, Cordaid, the Netherlands Red Cross, The Red Cross Climate Centre and Wetlands International), together Partners for Resilience, started off their ambitious programme in January 2011.
This annual report will provide an overview of the activities that have been carried out in 2011, and thus present the progress that has been made in the various countries in working towards the strengthening of the resilience of communities that are affected by increased disaster risk in nine countries in the global south.
Some of the activities reported during this period are:
- Diversity of socially-based and political engagement
- MDGs and themes within the programme elements
- Resilient communities
- Conducive institutional environment
- Internal and external developments and considerations
- The learning agenda and related initiatives
- Partners for Resilience Global Conference
- Introducing concepts ´water grab’ and ‘early warning early action’
